Janice (Jan) Charas passed away on September 4, 2022, at her home in Costa Mesa, California. She was the only child of Ralph and Eleanor Shoberg of Chisago City. Jan was baptized, confirmed, and married in Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. She graduated from Chisago City High School in 1963 and later earned her teaching degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Teaching led her first to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, then to California where she taught in the Orange County School District until she retired. There she met and married Allen Charas and together they had two children.
Jan loved bragging about the accomplishments of her talented, tall sons, and she was devoted to her grandson as he was to her. Over the years she enjoyed her canine companions, as well as traveling up to the Central Coast of California. She made special friends in Cambria, her favorite destination for many years.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eleanor Shoberg. She is survived by her husband Allen; her sons, Kris and Paul; her grandson Gaultier, along with several extended family members here in Minnesota and other states.
