Douglas Julik

Douglas Matthew Julik , 66 passed away at his home after his valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on February 15, 2023.

Doug was born March 5, 1956 in St. Croix Falls Wisconsin to Kathy and Mitch Julik. He spent his early years working hard on the dairy farm in Almelund with his parents and five siblings. Doug was active in school activities and sports throughout his youth. After high school Doug postponed his own plans in order to stay and work the farm to ensure its continued success, even throughout his father’s fight with Parkinson’s disease.

In 1980 Doug met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Pye) Collins. They maintained a long distance relationship for several years with Pye living in Pennsylvania. Pye moved to Minnesota to be closer to Doug and they married September 7, 1984. Doug and Pye had their first daughter Nicole Noel in 1990 and subsequently Meghan Carol in 1992. The work ethic Doug learned on the farm served him well and he was able to find employment and provide for his family throughout his life. In 1994, Doug, along with the help of many family and friends, was able to build the dream home for his family in Taylors Falls overlooking the St. Croix River, where his wife continues to reside. Doug worked diligently and meticulously to create a slice of heaven for him and Pye to raise their two girls. He continued his improvements throughout the years and the idyllic property has been host to many parties and events, including both of his daughters’ weddings.

Doug was a doting father and taught both of his daughters the joy of the outdoors. His legacy of deer hunting will endure in the traditions that his family continues.

Doug was a proud Papa to four grandchildren and spent many hours guiding them in the art of enjoying the outdoors. The relationship he cultivated with his grandkids was really something special. He taught them many important life skills and instilled great values that will live on in their lives. The special bond that he shared with his grandkids is evident in the way that Papa was truly the kids’ hero.

Doug was a man that could be described as truly larger than life. He had a unique ability to make every person feel special and included. This led to him and Pye always having an abundance of friends. He also cultivated a special relationship with his two sons-in-law who both considered him as a father and a friend. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Pye Julik; daughters, Nicole (Cody) Bergquist, Meghan (John) Pearl; grandchildren, Trevor, Korabella, McKenna and Connor, siblings Steve (Nancy) Julik, Dan (Cheryl) Julik, Deborah (Larry) Julik-Heine and Diane (Terry) Peer and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by father Matthew Julik, mother Kathryn Julik, brother and best friend Joseph Julik, nephew Benjamin Julik, cousin Peter Serie, sister Mary Julik.
