The Chisago Lakes girls lacrosse team has breezed through the first third of their schedule, winning their four contests by a combined total of 67-15.

Chisago Lakes 15, Rogers 7

The Wildcats opened the season with a 15-7 win over Rogers on Thursday, April 11.

Naomi Eaton, Camryn Hinsch and Evi Reedy were studs up front for the ‘Cats, combining to score 12 of CL’s 15 goals. Hinsch had five to go with two assists, Eaton had four scores and a helper and Reedy had a hat trick and an assist. Other goals came from Lauren Schmidt, Kamryn Peterson and Brooke Klemz.

Laura Carlson was stout in net, giving up seven goals on 16 shots.

The Royals kept things close with Chisago Lakes in the first half, with the ‘Cats only leading 6-4 at the break, but a strong defensive second half led to more scoring opportunities and CL broke the game open, outscoring Rogers 9-3 in the frame and cruising to their first win of the year.

Chisago Lakes 20, Eastview/Eagan 4

One would think a co-op with schools the size and available resources of Eastview and Eagan would have a strong lacrosse program, but the Wildcats made quick work of the south metro schools.

Hinsch led the way with four goals and then a cadre of girls got in on the scoring action for the Wildcats. Alyson Vogelsang, Klemz, Reedy, Schmidt, Peterson and Olivia Rambosek all had a pair of goals and Eaton, Katelyn Anderson, Madelyn Barten and Linnea Carlson scored individual goals.

Laura Carlson had another solid game for the ‘Cats, making 10 saves to get her second win of the year.

Chisago Lakes 13, Monticello 4

The Magic have been one of Chisago Lakes’ main competitors the last few years in the Mississippi 8 Conference, but the ‘Cats pounced on the Magic early in their match up, and never allowed Monti to mount a comeback.

Early goals from Hinsch, Schmidt and Peterson gave the ‘Cats a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, which is a large deficit to a good team like CL.

The rest of the game was played fairly close, with CL outscoring Monticello by just one goal in each quarter the rest of the way for the 13-4 win.

Schmidt and Hinsch each ended the game with three goals, Anderson and Peterson had two and Vogelsang, Eaton and Klemz each added tallies.

Chisago Lakes 19, Big Lake 0

The Wildcats shutout win over the Hornets means that since Big Lake’s program started four years ago, Chisago Lakes has now outscored them 91-4 in the five meetings between the two teams.

Vogelsang had four goals and two assists for the ‘Cats, Peterson and Klemz each potted three goals and Reedy and Hinsch both had two in the blowout.

Carlson faced just seven shots on the night, but stopped them all for her first shutout of the season.

Upcoming

CL’s schedule gets a lot tougher over the next few weeks, as they want to test themselves before sections this year. Blaine, Totino-Grace, Mounds View and Anoka are all on the docker over the next few games and will provide a nice barometer for the girls.
