Marian Kent

Marian Kent died on April 8, 2024 in Arizona.

She was 98-years-old.  Marian was born on September 1, 1925, to Frank and Lillian Leaf in Chisago City, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 1, 1925 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City.

She was an only child.  Marian Leaf’s grandparents immigrated from Sweden and settled on a farm four miles west of Chisago City.

Her Elmquist grandparents settled first in Minneapolis and then, in 1895 they bought a farm five miles south of Chisago City.  They had also purchased a strip of land on Big Green Lake to use for pasture land.    In 1925 the Elmquist’s estate was settled and that strip of land was sold to the St. Paul Camp Fire Girls.  It is now Ojiketa Regional Park.

In 1947 Marian married Rhineheart Kent at Zion Lutheran Church, the couple cared for Marian’s mother until her death in 1952.  Marian helped raise Rhineheart’s two daughters, Myra and Wanda.  Together, Marian and Rhineheart had four children; Debra, Mary Lou, John and Bill.  Marian was a woman of deep faith whose gentle and positive attitude made an impact on everyone she met.

Marian is survived by her children and their spouses; Debra Kent and Samuel Figueroa, son John, Mary Lou and Bill Wright, and Wanda Wildin; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  In addition, she leaves behind many other relatives and friends, including the residents of Homestead where she lived for many years.

In a recent article on her life Marian wrote:  Throughout my life, with the good and bad times I experienced, my church, Zion, has always given me strength and renewal and guidance in a closer walk with the Lord.  It re-enforced the truth that the Lord walks with me at all times.  No one or anything else could have given me such a blessing.”

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City.  Interment will be held at Chisago Memorial Park.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
