The event offered kids ages 10-16 a chance to learn new outdoor skills and to try their hand at archery and target shooting. Over 30 boys and girls participated in the day-long program. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about Minnesota wildlife and habitat by visiting the touring Outdoor Heritage Education Center’s Wild Animal Museum on site, which is sponsored by Wild River MDHA and other sportsman’s organizations. The Youth also learned about the “wily” wild turkey, which has made a strong comeback in our state, and practiced turkey calling. Minnesota DNR Officer Jason Jensen gave a presentation on safety, and the kids went home with some nice gifts and prizes.
MDHA Wild River Chapter and NWTF Long Spurs of the Sunrise River would like to thank the participants and all of the volunteer instructors and staff for making this event a success. Also, a special thank you to Bart and Dawn Carlson, from Mathews Pro Staff.
