16th Annual Tee Up for Hospice tops $150,000 Raised
Proceeds of the annual benefit help support HomeCaring Hospice and bereavement services. Organizers predicted that proceeds over its 16-year history, the tournament this year will have raised in excess of $150,000 to help provide care to patients in the final stages of life and support for their families.
Winning trophies in this year’s event were:
Men’s Division (back nine), First place, 6 under: Dave Dobosenski, David Tosteson, David Milbrandt, Dave Pries, David Moen; second place (after tie breaker), 6 under, Micah Anderson, Matt Anderson, Chad Gohring and Rod Anderson.
Women’s Division (front nine), First place, 4 under: Cassie Olson, Erin Pearson, Rhonda Johnson, Marlene Kundert and Molly Perry; second place, (4 over): Sheila Messin, Jennifer Messin, Sherry Bakken, Betty Hagberg and Bonita Carlson.
Mixed Men’s and Women’s Division (front nine)-- First place, 4 under: Aljean Lowinske, Cole Lowinske, Tim Lowinske, Jan Gravelle, and Brian Flagstad; second place, 3 under: Sheryl Campbell, Randy Diers, Paula Williams, and Julie Brooks.
Players whose tee shots land on the green on one of two holes are entered into a drawing for two special prizes. Winners of those prizes were Jennifer Messin, who won the $250 savings bond donated by Lake Area Bank, and Dave Milbrandt, who won $250 of Amoco gasoline from Wally Carlson's BP. No one scored a hole-in-one to win the pontoon boat and motor offered by Frankie’s Live Bait and Marine or the 2004 Ford Explorer sponsored by Plastic Products, Inc.
Event Coordinator Darcy Nelson of HomeCaring Hospice extends special thanks to this year’s major sponsors: Zinpro of North Branch, The RiverBank MN -Chisago Lakes, First State Bank of Rush City, University of Minnesota Physicians Radiation Therapy Center at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, Wells Fargo Bank, Polaris, Blue Bunny and Fairview Lakes Regional Health Care. Numerous other local businesses also sponsor holes, and make donations of prizes and gifts to help support the event. Thrivent for Lutherans provided $800 in matching funds.
