For the second straight season, this area has produced an AP All-State first teamer. Last year, Vikings kicker Britt Baumann was named to the AP All-State high school football first team. Now this season, Chisago Lakes star punter Devin Swanberg was singled out for his efforts this season, joining the best of the best from around the state.
“Devin is a guy who has taken pride in being a specialist,” said Bill Weiss, Chisago Lakes head football coach. “He has been going to kicking camps for the last three years. He’s someone who has a knack for kicking, he’s really worked hard at it.”
Swanberg becomes the first Wildcat to be named to the first team since Jake Ford in 1982. Chad Olson was named to AP All-State second team in 1999. Last season, Danny Reed, Aaron James, and Todd Froberg were named AP All-State Honorable Mention.
