Chisago Lakes 113.65
With one meet down, Brett Kjos couldn’t be happier.
Facing Cambridge-Isanti last Tuesday in their first meet of the season, and for most of the Wildcats roster, their first varsity meet of their career, Chisago went 3-4-5 in the all-around competition. As a team, the Wildcats fell 139.3-113.65.
As expected, Britni Harris led the ‘Cats by leading them in all four events. Harris finished fifth overall on the bars and followed that up with another fifth place finish on the floor. Those scores paired with her work on the vault and beam gave Harris an all-around score of 32.2. Chelsey Evenson won the meet for Cambridge, scoring an all-around score of 35.55.
In addition to Harris, Alex Thomsen placed fourth in the all-around and Ana Peltier finished fifth. Thomsen’s best performance came on the bars where her score of 7.8 was the fourth best score of the meet.
“For both Alex and Ana, it was there first high school meet and to place in the all-around is outstanding,” said Kjos, Chisago Lakes head gymnastics coach. “Overall, I thought the girls did a fantastic job. For nearly all of them it was their first high school meet. They were a little nervous to say the least, especially on the balance beam where we had nine falls. It gives the girls some incentive to work hard during practice to stick to their routines.”
Now with some experience on their side, the Wildcats will get even more this week with the Chisago Lakes Invite coming up on Saturday. The meet begins at noon.
