‘Cats fourth, Vikings fifth at Chisago Lakes Invite
Hosting four other teams at the Chisago Lakes Invite last Saturday, the Wildcats scored 121.375 as a team, putting them fourth overall. However, they were just 1.4 points behind Hudson who took second, giving Kjos and his team something to smile about. What could have been...
“Overall, it wasn’t our greatest meet of the year but we did fairly well. We missed out on second place by roughly 1.4 points- a couple beam falls,” said Kjos, Chisago Lakes head gymnastics coach. “We were definitely not firing on all cylinders, but what I am excited about is the fact that we scored less than seven-tenths of a point below our high score of the year and we weren’t on. So if we keep working hard during practice, our scores will keep climbing.”
Individually, Britni Harris placed fourth overall in the all-around, including a first place finish on the bars. In addition, Alex Thomsen also placed in the top 10 in the all-around, running eighth overall. Thomsen’s best event was also on the bars where she finished fourth overall.
“Britni Harris did an excellent job once again. She placed fourth in the all-around and first on the bars- awesome. A lot of good competition was present at the meet,” remarked Kjos. “Also, Alex took eighth in the all-around. She keeps improving every week. She has a great future ahead of her.
Meanwhile, while the North Branch placed fifth overall as a team, the story was Alyssa Houle who finished third overall in the all-around competition. Houle finished second on the bars, fifth on the beam, sixth on the vault, and sixth on the floor.
