The elections were heated battles, but now finally over

I hope you all had a safe and funfilled Halloween. This year was the first time ever my children actually went door to door. What a blast we had. Their excitement grew with every house we left. I just wanted to say that I was really impressed on how nice and cordial people were to all the trick or treaters. In this day and age when everybody is moving so fast, it’s refreshing to see people enjoying themselves by helping out all the children.

Congratulations to all the local elected politicians. There were many seats up for grabs, so in turn that made our local race very interesting. I’m sure that the people of Chisago County have made the right decisions in whom they elected. We look forward to covering all the progress these and other elected will hopefully make.

I recently heard that campaign spending for this presidential election will top $600 million. It just blows my mind how these politicians stand so firm against cutting the so called extra “fat” spending by our government, and at the same time they are spending millions upon millions on their campaigns.

This election sure was a heated one. As I am writing this column I have absolutely no idea who the winners are, but thank goodness it is over. I know I have written this before, but all the negativity that went along with this past election was really disappointing. Some day (maybe) there will be a politician that will concentrate on all the positives, and that will be the next elected official.

As the holidays get closer, please remember those who may need a little help this holiday season. Area food shelves always need extra donations, cash and help around the holidays. Any donation of food, time or money will be without question greatly appreciated.

A reminder that the deadline for our Holiday Gift Guide is near. This special section will be distributed with the Search Shopper November 21 and will be distributed to over 19,000 area homes. It is a great place to showcase your business and get your advertising message out to the public. Give us a call, we would love to help your business.
