I don’t know about you, but my summer and fall are officially over. Even though the temps are as beautiful and balmy as I can remember at this time, last weekend we put up our (cringe) Christmas lights. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmastime and all that goes along with it, but Christmas lights mean an end to seeing the grass is growing near. If you think you have a great Christmas lights display this year, please call us here at the Press. We would love to come photograph your lighted house or yard.

As I wrote here last week, time is approaching for the 16th annual Chisago Lakes Lions Club Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner is open to anyone who needs or wants to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner in the company of others. The dinner will be served from noon till 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lindstrom. Donations of food and/or money are welcome and needed as are people to help set up, prepare, serve and clean up on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to make a donation or a reservation, please call Mark (257-2654) or Gary at (257-5679). This is a great dinner for anyone who does not want to be alone on Thanksgiving.

A quick note to all of you politicians who have not removed all of your election signs. You are supposed to have all signage down no more than seven days after an election. I have noticed in quite a few places there are still an abundance of signs. Please call the candidate if you see their signs around the area.

There are a couple of new businesses that I think you should check out. Quick Stop in the old Tom Thumb building opened recently and I think you will be surprised at how much they have to offer. Stop by and see what a great store Zach has. The other store I’m referring to is the new Cottage Gifts store located in the old Coast to Coast building. You will be amazed at the wonderful transformation they have given this building. The Andersons would love to show you around their new store and I guarantee you’ll find something you like.

If you are like me, there is a hint of bitterness in your attitude this week. Once again I took that leap and jumped ever so mightily on the Vikings bandwagon. And once again the zebras were out to ruin my whole week. On a fumble that was clearly ours, they proceeded to give it right back to the green and gold. So, thank you to the officials for blowing it once again. I can’t wait until Bowling for Dollars comes back on TV, at least the refs can’t screw that game up.
