David Perez, 15, of Chisago City, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts––the Eagle Scout Award. He will be recognized in a ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 23, 7 p.m., at the Court of Honor, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Chisago City.

For his project, Perez refinished the inside of the caboose, in Moberg Park, in Chisago City, with the help of other members of Troop 127. This included learning about its history, getting donations from the area businesses, scheduling the project, sanding, washing, painting and repairing the caboose.

Perez has been involved with Scouts since first grade as a Tiger Scout and enjoys the activities that Scouting offers. One of his Scouting highlights was a trip to Isle Royale. He also belongs to the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow.

Perez is a sophomore at Chisago Lakes High School, where he is active in Cable TV as well as lights/sound for band concerts and other activities. He is employed at The Drive-In, Taylors Falls, and is the son of Robert and Lily Perez, of Chisago City.
