Joyce Ida Marie Nicklason, of Lindstrom, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at the Margaret Parmly Residence, at the age of 77.

Joyce was born May 7, 1927, to Aaron and Esther Holmquist. She graduated from high school in Lindstrom in 1945 and Gustavus Adolphus College in 1949. Feb. 14, 1954, she married David E. Nicklason, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church.

She worked as a social worker for Chisago County and taught and was a librarian in the Taylors Falls and Chisago Lakes area schools. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Joyce enjoyed reading, literature, poetry, cooking, going out to dinner and her family.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Aaron and Esther; foster parents, Arthur and Ruth Bolander.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl and husband, Andreas Binder; grandchildren: Jennifer Rudin, Christopher Rudin and wife, Tracy; brother, Raymond Holmquist (Carrie Ann); nephews: Lonnie and Larry Holmquist.

Funeral services were held Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Golv officiating. Music was provided by Carol Peterson, Meri Kroulik and Diane Hipkins. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
