Bob was born in Springfield, Minn., April 26, 1946, to Frank and Janet Hofmann. His family attended St. Mathias Church, in Wanda, Minn., where he was baptized, received the Holy Eucharist, and was confirmed. The Hofmann family moved to Center City in 1959 where he attended school at Chi Hi, in Lindstrom, and graduated in 1964.
Bob was employed at 3M in St. Paul until he proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for three tours in Vietnam. Returning to the Chisago Lakes area, he obtained his real estate license and worked for Chain of Lakes. Bob then moved his family to Mesa from Wyoming in 1982 where he worked, lived and loved.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Sunny) of 33 years, sons: Kennedy (Jean) of Monticello; Paul, John and daughter, Jewel; grandchildren: Matthew, Vanessa, C.J., Taylon, Amanda, Moriah, Natalie, all of Arizona; and Alicia, of Monticello; Frank and Janet Hofmann, of Lindstrom; sister, Marge Jenniges (David Chilko) of Lindstrom; brother, Rich (Anita) Hofmann, of Lindstrom; sister, Marlene (Bruce) George, of Shafer; brother, Ron (Kay) Hofmann, of Lindstrom; and sister, Bev (Gary) Peterson, of Almelund; 17 nieces and nephews and 32 great nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Robert is preceded in death by sister, Barbara; grandparents: John and Mary Hofmann and grandparents, John and Nettie Eichten, of Wanda, Minn.
Bob was devoted to his family. His passions were golf and carpentry. He was known for his soft voice and storytelling.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, in Mesa, Ari., with a private interment at the National Memorial Cemetery, in Phoenix, Ari., with military honors.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, in Lindstrom, Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at 9:30 a.m.
