Hundreds visit Wyoming’s first library; opening day celebrated
The day ended with a count of 629 guestbook signatures of those visiting the library, according to Sheree Vincent, Friends of the Library.
Vincent spoke at Saturday’s ribbon-cutting event and thanked Commissioner Ben Montzka and Chisago County for its support getting Wyoming’s first-ever library built. She thanked County Administrator John Moosey for overseeing the project, and she thanked former-mayor Neil Gatzow for his support 12 years ago during the formation of the Wyoming Library Task Force.
The library has book “ornaments” available for a donation of $20 and donors put their name on the ornament and hang it on the lobby tree. In lower photo, Hank Houle was signing an ornament for himself and wife Elaine, at the grand opening.
The grand opening ribbon was cut by Myles Giese’s daughters Ginni Peterson and Bea Zaruba (in small photo.) Zaruba told those gathered that her father would be so proud if he’d lived to see this grand opening. She explained that Myles Giese was an avid reader and he was excited to be able to share that passion through supporting this library. She added, “We hope, as you enjoy the library you pass along the love of reading.”
The Wyoming Library librarian is Sherri Douglas. The phone is 462-9001.
The library is closed Monday. Hours Tuesday are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday it is open from noon to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
