Hudson (Wis.) 48, Chisago Lakes 32

The Chisago Lakes girls’ basketball team went on the road to Hudson Wisconsin on Tuesday, December 6, hoping to get its first win of the year.

After losses at home to Princeton and at Austin, the team hoped to get off to a fast start. Unfortunately, Hudson got off to an early lead and held a commanding 28 to 8 advantage after the first 18 minutes. Too many turnovers and poor shooting hurt Chisago Lakes in the opening period.

The Wildcats made some adjustments at halftime and were more productive on the offensive end of the court in the second half. Chisago Lakes outscored its opponent 24-20, but was unable to seriously threaten Hudson.

CL vs Mahtomedi - December 9

Still searching for its first victory under new head coach Carl Pierson, the Wildcat girls’ basketball team took the floor against the Mahtomedi Zephyrs at home Friday, December 9.

The game, played at 5:45 p.m. as the first half of a girls/boys double header, was close throughout. In the first half, both teams’ defenses dominated their ends of the floor. Neither team was able to gain much of an advantage as the Zephyrs took a 25-21 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Wildcats gradually chipped away at the Mahtomedi lead. About midway through the period, Chisago Lakes started to get the ball inside for some better shots, primarily by Jess Peterson and Kori Sells.

On the other end of the floor, the Wildcat defense forced some bad shots and crearted a series of turnovers. Chisago gradually took the lead by outscoring the Zephyrs 24-15 for the half.

It wasn’t pretty, but the girls held on for a 45-40 win.

The Wildcats were scheduled to play at Osceola, Wisconsin Tuesday, December 13 and at home against Minnehaha Friday, December 16. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.
