Colby Hanson and Nicholle Blomker of Grantsburg, Wis., had something very special to celebrate this second day of the new year––the birth of their daughter, Whitney Rae, born January 2, 2005, at 10:30 p.m. at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. Whitney was a healthy 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 20 inches long at birth.

“Whitney Rae is our second child born here in the Medical Center,” said Nicholle with a smile. “We found this to be a wonderful family environment. Kelly Schmidt, C-NM (Certified Nurse Midwife), our provider, and the nurses were very accommodating and met all our labor and delivery needs. We felt we were guided well through the birth. They were informative and helpful, and simply gave us excellent care. We really enjoyed the special birthday candlelight dinner in our birthing suite to celebrate Whitney’s birth and the New Year. ”

As the parents of the first child born in 2005 at the Medical Center, the proud couple received a gift of a first handprint kit, a backpack and a pastel baby blanket from the Medical Center, monogrammed with Whitney Rae’s name, birth date, and the medical center’s logo, a $50 gift basket of products for mom and baby from the SCRMC Auxiliary/Gift Shop, an 8 by 11 family portrait and sitting from Heritage Studios of Osceola, a $50 gift certificate from Marketplace Foods, a $50 savings bond from The RiverBank of St. Croix Falls, a $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, and a free six month subscription to the Osceola Sun.
