The heat wave just keeps rolling along. We have had nine straight days of 90 plus degrees with just one short heavenly break (Monday). We must be getting accustomed to this blast furnace because the numbers for the Chisago County Fair and Wannigan Days sure seemed to be up. I think it’s great that we don’t let sweltering heat put a damper on our local festivities. I guess we are lucky that we are actually having a summer and not skipping directly into fall.

Congratulations to Warren and Carol Sandberg in winning the Chisago County Seniors of the Year award last Thursday. This area is amazing for how many people volunteer for so many great causes. We have some of the greatest seniors in the world in our area and we are lucky to have them. Sandbergs, you are great role models and fully deserving of your award.

If you love to ride motorcycles, then this Saturday you will be in heaven. The Cruise For A Cure motorcycle run will begin at the Chisago Lakes Sportsman’s Club and take you along the St. Croix River Valley. The run and all the other festivities all benefit the fight to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This disease has found Cole, a second grader in our community. Currently there is no cure for this form of M.D. but we would like to change that. There will also be a children’s carnival, a pig roast, a silent auction, motorcycle vendors and lots of raffle prizes. Registration for the ride begins at 9:30 a.m. and the kid’s carnival begins at noon. This is our chance to get out and show our support to a wonderful little boy and help fight this tragic disease.

The Chisago County Press is currently looking for an editor/sports writer. If you are sports oriented and have writing ability, we would like to hear from you. If you or someone you know would be a good fit for the County Press, send us your resume and salary history to: The Chisago County Press, Attn: Matt, P.O. Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045. We look forward to hearing from you.

We have gotten quite a few calls about the Karl Oskar Days Button winners lately. All I can tell you is that when we receive the numbers we will put them in the paper for all to read. The Press does not pick the numbers, that is done by another committee.
