Ed began farming in Stillwater in 1949. Ed married Germaine Lencowski at Holy Trinity Church in South St. Paul, June 2, 1951. Together they raised 10 children: John, Tom, Ann, Jean, Jim, Carol, Ted, Ken, Cindy and Amy. Ed and his family moved to THE FARM in Lindstrom in 1970. He spent his career farming and raising his family and retired from farming in 1992. It was well known that he had a top herd. A young farmer from Ellsworth, Wisconsin bought the whole herd. No auction had to be held.
Ed belonged to the Washington/Chisago DHIA 700 Club. He received top awards for milk production in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ed served in the Army in WWII and was stationed in Germany.
He loved to dance. He would grab his children and dance in the barn. He loved Polish music and country music. Along with his wife, they would polka dance, country line dance and swing.
He had many wonderful friends, relatives and acquaintances from all of the traveling he did to go dancing.
Ed and Germaine celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary June 2, 2005.
He is preceded in death by son John, and infant son, granddaughter Gabrielle, great grandson Corey and siblings Michael, Wilda, Elaine and Rita.
Ed is survived by wife of 54 years Germaine; brothers: Robert (Mary), and Frank; many nieces and nephews, inlaws and friends; children: Thomas, Ann (Tom) Selvog, Jean (Nick) Mersch, James, Carol Sampair, Ted (Teresa), Kenneth (Amy), Cynthia (Joseph) VondeLinde, Amy (Bruce) Nelson; 25 grandchildren: Kelly (Jay), Donna Jean, Matthew, Morgan, Joseph, Adeline, Natalie, Hannah, Dakotah, Michael, Jessica, Amanda, John, Sarah, Hank, Ken Jr., Tessah, Jeremiah, Wesley, Candice, Christa, Stacey, Melissa, Sally and Julia; and five great grandchildren: Kalea, Travis, Jonathon, Kody and Bruce.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, June 13, 2005, at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home.
