This week the North Branch girls basketball team will be well represented at the annual girls basketball All-Star game.

Saturday, June 25, at 4 p.m. Coach Dan Schindler will be inducted into the Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. That will be followed by senior Jenny Anderson playing in the All-Star game at the Pavillion at the University of Minnesota. Game time is 6 p.m., following the Hall of Fame induction.

Sunday June 26 Anderson will play either the 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. game at the Target Center. (Losers of Saturday's game at 11 a.m. and winners at 1 p.m.) That will be followed by the Minnesota Lynx game.

Anderson was a senior this year and one of the main reasons why the North Branch girls basketball team got back to the state tournament for the fifth time with a 23-7 record. Anderson is a first-time all state selection. The top 10 players in AAA are named to the team. Anderson finished her North Branch career with 919 points (6th all time), 760 rebounds (2nd all time), and 220 blocks (1st all time). She averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds per game and had 12 double doubles. She will be attending Augustana College in South Dakota on a track scholarship.

Schindler has been coaching girls basketball the past 25 seasons, including the past 16 years as head coach at North Branch. Before that he was a junior varsity coach at North Branch for four years. Prior to North Branch, Schindler was the head coach at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's for two years and the ninth grade coach at Rochester John Marshall for three years.

During his 18 years as a head coach his teams have compiled a 299-147 record. His teams have won Rum River Conference championships seven times (1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003). His teams have won section titles five times advancing to the state tournament (1994, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005). The team in 2001 finished second in the state tournament.

Coach Schindler has been named Rum River Coach of the Year six times (1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003). He was named Section Coach of the Year three times (2001, 2002 and 2005). This past season Coach Schindler was named State Coach of the Year in Class AAA. Seven times his teams have won more than 20 games in a season including five of the past six seasons.
