There is a great fundraiser taking place for a new stadium at the Chisago Lakes High School. A group of hard working individuals is really pounding the pavement to get a new stadium built. The campaign is called “buy a seat” and they are hoping you will step up and support their quest. Families and businesses are being asked to purchase a white plastic chair for $100, which is tax deductible. You will be then asked to decorate the chair as you like, the top three chairs will be picked by vote during the football season. This summer you will see participating businesses display their decorated seats outside for the public to enjoy. The goal is to sell 1,200 seats and with your help we will have a new football stadium soon.

If you are interested in purchasing and decorating a chair, please call Noel at 257-3245 or Kathy at 257-6373 or Denise at 257-5677. A little side note ... there is talk that there might be a float in the Karl Oskar Days Parade decorated with the most uniquely decorated chairs. Also, the Press will be running photos of various decorated chairs, so get those creative juices flowing.

Traffic around these parts has been nothing short of unbelievable. It seems every road you turn on leads to a “road closed” sign. Soon, hopefully, all the construction will just be a memory as we are cruising down our fresh new streets. Here is my free tip to you––do not try to conquer the “local traffic only section” on County Road 23. There is a stretch of road that would make even a monster truck think twice.

I had a nice conversation with Rev. Stenghelle the other day. He was telling me about the new recreation center the Chisago Lakes Evangelical Free Church is building. I think it’s fantastic that a church is stepping up this day and age to build something for the youth. This community needs more places to keep our children busy. There have been plenty of studies done about idle youth and the trouble some seem to get into. So congratulations to CLEFC on making a difference in our community and for making youth a priority.
