He is preceded in death by parents, Lester Illgen and Joyce Miller; and brother, Richard Illgen.
He is survived by loving wife of 38 years, Sharon; generous lifelong coach, teacher and father of Joel (Susan), Allen (Shawn) and Eileen (Jay) Nelson; proud and playful grandfather of Joel Aaron, Taylor, Janey, Tyndale, Samuel, Vincent, Luke, Jacob, Brady and Jordyn; siblings: Cheryl, Linda, Judy, Janice, Lance, Dennis, David, Judith, Eric, Tim and Bruce.
He is a retired member of Local 455.
Visitation 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom and one hour prior to service at church.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, Chisago City.
His spirit lives on in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in the hearts of those who knew him.
Private family interment.
