Wildcat girls’ hockey starts season with two shutouts
Chisago Lakes beats TriCity 8-0 / Second period score beats Forest Lake 1-0
A hat trick by senior defenseman Lexy Parenteau and a goal and two assists by senior center Anne Fredrickson helped the Chisago Lakes Wildcats girls hockey team beat the TriCity Wildcats 8-0 in the opening game of the 2005-2006 high school hockey season. The game was Thursday, November 17 at Columbia Arena in Fridley.
Jessica Lorr, Shannon Segarra, Morgan Baumgard and Rhiannon Sauter also scored goals for the Chisago Lakes and Amanda Waltz added two assists. Goalie Jackie Weiden stopped 11 shots to get the shutout.
“I was worried about how we would score goals,” said Chisago Lakes head coach Al Magnuson. “We lost 70 percent of our scoring when five seniors graduated. So I was pleased to see that six different players scored for us tonight.”

A second period power play goal by senior forward Jenny Wolfe provided all the scoring the Wildcats needed as senior goalie Jackie Weiden stopped all 28 shots she faced to lead the Wildcats to a 1-0 victory over the Forest Lake Rangers, Friday, November 18 at Chisago Lakes Arena.
During a power play late in the second period, freshman defenseman Laura Greene got a hold of the puck in the right corner of the Ranger zone. She carried it to the front of the net and tried to jam it in from point blank range. The Forest Lake goalie stopped Greene’s shot, but left the puck lying in front of a wide open net. The opportunistic Wolfe knocked the puck in the net to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead they never relinquished.
Weiden came up with some big saves in the third period to preserve the Wildcat lead. With 10 minutes remaining, the Wildcats turned the puck over at the blue line and a Ranger player skated in and fired from 15 feet out. Weiden came up with the save. With just over four minutes left in the game, Weiden slid right to make a pad save, then was in position a few seconds later to snap the puck out of the air with her glove and force a face-off.
The Rangers continued to pressure. After pulling their goalie with just under a minute remaining, the Ranger pressure increased. They ripped a shot from the slot with 20 seconds left, but Weiden came up with one more big save to preserve the victory.
“Jenny didn’t play a lot last year,” Wildcat head coach Al Magnuson said. “She’s playing with a lot of confidence right now. And the first game wasn’t much of a test for Jackie, but she really showed her stuff in this game. This was a big win for us against a tough section opponent.”
