You will notice in this edition of the Press a special home improvement section dedicated to homeowners. In this section you will find advertising for many local businesses providing great services and goods that can help you beautify your home or get it ready for winter. There is a business for just about any kind of job you have in mind. And best of all, these businesses are local people working hard to ensure our quality of life in a small town. We (the area) have so many talented craftsmen and business people in our area that one has really no reason to head to the big city to find a good deal. Hopefully, if you are planning any type of job around the house, you will find what you need right here in your backyard.

If you have young children, Chisago City has got just your ticket. This Saturday they will be holding their annual Halloween Fall Festival in Moberg Park. Bring your children in their Halloween costumes and enjoy a pumpkin giveaway, hayrides, craft making, music, games, face painting and much more. It all gets started at noon and be sure to bring your camera for the costume parade that starts at 1 p.m. I have attended this festival in the past and it is always a great time had by all.

There is a great fundraiser going on for our Chisago County Historical Society. The Historical Society is selling raffle tickets with chances to win a 1929 Ford Model A Special Coupe. This beautiful old car has been professionally restored and is ready for the road. Just imagine taking a fall drive to look at the leaves in this great old car. Tickets are just $5 apiece and it all goes to a wonderful cause. Look for the advertisement in this edition of the Press. The drawing for the car will be held at 3 p.m. on October 22 at the historic Gustaf Anderson House in Lindstrom. Good luck!

With all the terrific things going on with the Minnesota Vikings (tongue firmly in cheek), I thought I would share something with you. This was given to me from a friend in Lindstrom . . .

Minnesota Vikings practice was delayed for nearly two hours this morning after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Coach Tice immediately suspended practice while police and federal agents were brought in to investigate. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the players was in fact the goal line. Practice was resumed today after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.
