By now you have hopefully received your blue renewal cards in the mail. This is your opportunity to renew your subscription with the Chisago County Press for another year. If you already took advantage of our early renewal campaign, we apologize and would ask that you please disregard the blue card just sent to you. Everybody here at the County Press really appreciates you, the readers. We highly value your opinions and welcome any and all suggestions on how to improve the newspaper. I really believe that we put out a very good paper and I am so proud to be a small part of it.

I can’t believe that I have been at this desk now for 3-1/2 years. When I was an electrician, I would have never guessed that someday I would be in the newspaper business (some people probably wish I was still an electrician). It has been an absolute pleasure to meet so many nice people in our community. I hope I am doing a satisfactory job, because I sure enjoy my end of it. There was a span of 8 or 9 years where I lived out of the area for whatever reason. If you have never lived anywhere else, you really do not know how wonderful of a place you live in. Now I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

Our Search logo contest is almost over. We have extended it one more week, so you still have time. We have received some really good entries that have some real potential. So if you were thinking of giving it a try, I would urge you to get creative and send your entry in to us. Please remember that the winning logo will become property of the Chisago County Press and Search. It is a great opportunity to make some money and display your talents every week of the year. Good luck!

Last Saturday we got invited to celebrate a good friend of ours birthday. Usually the birthday person gets to choose what everyone will do that night, sometimes it’s exciting, sometimes not so much. Well this person decided we all should go see a Kiss cover band playing at an establishment in Forest Lake. For those of you who do not know the band Kiss, they are a heavy metal band that paints their faces to look like demons and dress in lavish black outfits. Someone smart once told me that as you hit your mid-30s, something inside of your ears changes. I have noticed that now I get dizzy just swinging on the swings with my kids. Anyway, whatever changes inside your ears really must have changed how I listen to music. Awhile back I couldn’t find a car stereo that could blare loud enough. Now, I find myself turning up the radio, but it is to hear the weather report on WCCO. The band Kiss has a saying that if it’s too loud, you’re too old. Well then, I had better be getting my AARP card soon because my ears are still ringing.
