Spring sports are here! Chisago Lakes hosts meet at U of M
Chisago Lakes boys' indoor track U of M March 31, 2006
Swanberg, who finished second in the 200, ran the race in 23.5 seconds to break the school mark of 23.78 seconds, set by Jason Hawthorne in 2001.
Chris Golv had a good day as well, finishing first in the high jump and second in the long jump. The team of Golv, Swanberg, Blane Maher and Brian Jennissen won the 4x200 relay. Other second place finishes for the Wildcats included Zach Hunter in the 1000 meter run, the team of Max Molina, Zack Johnson, Jeff Landgraff and Nathan Gieske in the 4x800 relay and the team of Jon Lien, Zach Lukas, Matt Lundquist and Hunter in the 1600 meter medley relay.
“We got off to a good start,” said Wildcat head coach Ken Orwoll. “Golv and Swanberg had great days individually, our relay teams did very well and we had four guys in the top seven in the shot put. Actually, it’s tough to decide where to use some of these guys. For example, Golv had a great day in the events he participated in. But he could also do well in other events, such as the triple jump.
“We graduated a lot of seniors last year, but I look forward to a very good season. I hope we get a couple of our injured senior athletes, Blane Maher and Andy Olness, back to full strength in time for the conference and section meets. And it will be interesting to see which of the younger kids steps up – somebody always does,” coach Orwoll said.
The Wildcats were scheduled to face Totino Grace, Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Fridley Tuesday, April 4 at Totino Grace. Their next meet is Tuesday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m. against St. Francis and North Branch at St. Francis.
