The Scandia Elementary Peace Team has been busy this year promoting and encouraging appropriate student behavior choices. The Peace Team consists of nine fifth and sixth grade students who were nominated by their teachers. These students have demonstrated kindness, good manners, responsibility and an enthusiasm to help others.

Learning how to treat others and developing the skills to make healthy and positive choices are important to Scandia Elementary. The Peace Team's biggest accomplishment this year has been teaching kids how to handle bullying. Each student in the Peace Team helped to create a skit that was performed in front of every classroom. The skit illustrated an example of bullying and then showed the student a way to handle the situation.

Following the skit, each student was given a backpack keychain that declared on one side that Scandia Elementary is a "No Bullying Zone" and on the other side it listed ways to deal with a bullying situation. Scandia Elementary students were proud to receive the backpack tags and the Peace Team's messages will continue to be reinforced throughout the school year.
