County commissioners did right thing by reinstating library hours
There is a bit of good news out there today regarding the ever increasing cases of breast cancer. It seems that doctors have found a pill used for fighting osteoporosis can effectively be used in the prevention of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. There is already a pill on the market that fights breast cancer, but unfortunately it has some quite extreme side effects such as uterine cancer. The new pill, called Evista, has shown very little side effects and seems to ward off cancer just as well. Speaking as someone who has lost his mother to breast cancer, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this new pill continues to work with no side effects popping up down the road. I wish they would have come out with this medicine 10 years ago.
Congratulations to our County Board for doing the right thing. Headed by Commissioner Schultz, they moved to replace the $5,000 initially taken away from library funding. I think they came together and realized what an absolute asset the libraries are to our communities and changed their minds.
We are picking a winner in our Search Logo Contest this week. We have received some really neat designs. I will be telling you of some big changes involving the Search in upcoming issues of the Press. Next week we will publish the winner’s name along with their design. Thanks to all who have submitted designs to us.
