If your family is like mine, then reading books are a way of life. This Saturday is a wonderful opportunity to add to your home collection. The Friends of the Library are holding a book sale at the new Chisago Lakes Area Library. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and features hundreds and hundreds of new and gently used books donated by patrons. The sale will support future programs and events sponsored by the Friends of the Library. It is a great chance to see the new library and come home with some new books.
If you have noticed when you were out driving around, garage sale season is in full swing. The County Press and Search is a wonderful way to get your sale message out to the public. Our classified section is a great way to sell, buy, find or relay a message. If you are having a garage sale or have something you wish to advertise, give us a call at 651-257-5115. We will be more than happy to help.
There is a good article in the Tuesday’s edition of the Star Tribune about small town pharmacies. The article explains how the large scale drug stores are squeezing out the main street drug stores and forcing people to use the “big” stores.
I know I have written this a thousand times, but our small town communities are in jeopardy. More and more of these big box stores are creeping closer and closer to our area. If we intend to keep that small town feel, which we all enjoy so much, then we really need to make an effort to support our local businesses. I know that you can’t purchase absolutely everything all the time in our community, but if we make a conscious effort to shop locally, then we will be able to preserve this great area.
