The fat cats at the top of the corporate ladder must be getting tired of stuffing their beds with millions and millions of dollars while overcharging the public. How the top executives can lay their heads on their pillows feeling good about themselves absolutely blows my mind. Sure we live in America, the home of free enterprise, where every man has got a chance, but this is ridiculous. How does our great government look the other way as the prices keep soaring? Sure there are a few lawmakers in Washington that are actively investigating the out-of-control gas price gouging, but have these ever produced any semblance of change? Somewhere behind some door there is a dump truck backing up with a ton of money to be dispersed amongst various politicians. Unfortunately, I believe we may never go backwards. Now that we, the public, are accustomed to paying exorbitant amounts for gas, we will be thrilled to pay $2.50 to $3 per gallon. Lucky us.

This Saturday there is a great chance to help one of the nicest people in our area. Last May, Dan Shanahan who many of you know through Shanahan Masonary and through his church, suffered a massive heart attack. Dan survived, but suffered an anoxic brain injury that requires an unbelievable amount of rehabilitation, not to mention expenses. The benefit will be held this Saturday at the Chisago City Community Center. The benefit runs from 4 to 10 p.m., and features a meal, refreshments and a raffle. Hope to see you there.

There is still time to register for the upcoming Ki Chi Saga “Extra Mile” 5K race. The race takes place Saturday, August 26, at 8 a.m. Last year’s race had a wonderful turnout and this year’s hopefully will surpass last year’s race.

Staying with Ki Chi Saga Days, the great people that put on the celebration are still looking for some more crafters and food vendors to display and sell their goods in Moberg Park. If you have a craft or something you are passionate about, or if you have a food that you think people have got to try, please call Doris at 651-257-5464.
