I really urge people not to put their ice shacks out yet...

...that's what local DNR Conservation Officer Brad Schultz said when asked about this ice fishing house near Mickelson Lane, on south Chisago Lake. Schultz said ice fishing houses heat up out in the sun and they radiate the warmth to surrounding ice. Because the lake ice is thin now--shacks are breaking through or toppling over when surrounding ice thins. "We have anywhere from eight inches to open water on our lakes," said Schultz "There's great potential for your house to go through." He added, "Don't put one out unless you want to haul it off every day." These guys were trying to pull this house out with a cable attached to a Chevy Blazer on shore. They were advised to wear life preservers as they worked.
