Led by Haylea Schmid’s hat trick, the St. Francis North Branch (SFNB) girls hockey team won their opening round Section 7AA playoff game over Duluth East 5-3 in the quarterfinal round Thursday, February 9 at East Bethel. But their run ended in the semifinals as they fell to Cloquet 4-2 Saturday, February 11. The teams were tied 2-2 after two periods, but Cloquet scored two goals in the third period to advance to the section final. Cloquet will face Grand Rapids at Grand Rapids tonight, Thursday February 16, for the section championship.

SFNB finished the season 18-7-2 overall, 8-3-0 in the conference.
