The eighth-seeded Wildcats face the ninth-seeded North Branch Vikings to open the Section 7AAA team tournament this Friday, February 17 at 3 p.m. at St. Francis High School. The winner gets to take on number-one seed Anoka Friday night at 7 p.m.
“We’re in the toughest section in the state,” said Wildcat head coach Shawn Fredrixon. “The top five seeds in our section are ranked in the top 12 in the state. Anoka is ranked first, St. Francis is second, Forest Lake is sixth, Coon Rapids is tenth and Cambridge-Isanti is twelfth.
“We’re going to try to beat North Branch and see what happens from there. We don’t like to lose to them. They’ve changed matchups since we last faced them, looking to improve at lighter weights. If we take care of our business when we wrestle them, I’m confident we’ll come out on top.”
