January 6
The Chisago Lakes boys’ basketball team won its own holiday tournament. The Wildcats defeated Osceola 72-59 in the semifinals and Minnehaha Academy 67-66 in an exciting overtime game to win the title.
January 13
Seventy Chisago Lakes High School student athletes were named to All-Conference Academic Teams for fall sports. To be eligible, students must have a G.P.A. 3.70 or higher.
January 20
The Chisago Lakes boys’ basketball team scored a school record number of points in a 104-28 victory over Zimmerman. Senior David Olson scored 46, including 20 in the first quarter.
The Chisago Lakes dance team won its fourth consecutive Jazz/Funk competition by winning the Bloomington Kennedy Invitational.
January 27
The Chisago Lakes swimming and diving team qualified for the state True Team Meet.
Three’s a charm - Wildcat girls’ and boys’ skiing teams won their third straight conference titles.
The North Branch girls’ basketball team climbed into second place (8-2) in the Rum River Conference with a 44-42 overtime win over Foley. The Vikings trailed the Falcons five, with 30 seconds to play, before forcing the OT.
February 3
The Chisago Lakes gymnastics team picked up its first win of the season by defeating Princeton 124.8-119.15. Wildcat gymnast Britni Harris was the all-around winner with 33.1.
The Wildcat girls’ and boys ski teams gathered more hardware by winning the Northwest Suburban Conference Meet titles.
North Branch wrestlers defeated Chisago Lakes 45-27.
The Chisago Lakes boys’ basketball team beat North Branch 74-53 in North Branch. The Vikings had upset the Wildcats in their first meeting.
February 10
The Wildcat girls’ hockey team advanced to the section 7AA finals by beating Duluth East 2-1 and St. Francis/North Branch 1-0.
February 17
The Wildcat ski teams won the Section 7 Meet and will go to state.
February 24
The North Branch boys’ basketball team came back from a 56-41 fourth quarter deficit to Big Lake and won in OT 79-73.
March 3
Jeremy Bergerson, North Branch 215 lb. wrestler, participated in his third straight High School State Tournament.
March 10
The North Branch girls’ basketball team won the Section 6AAAA title by upsetting heavily favored Andover 52-44.
Brian Willhite (3rd), Jeremy Salokar (7th) and Adam Sill (10th) finished strong in the State Swimming and Diving Meet. The Wildcat team finished 21st.
March 17
The North Branch girls’ basketball team finished its season at 23-7 after being defeated 38-34 in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament.
The Chisago Lakes boys’ basketball team ended its season 24-5 as it was runnerup in the Section 6AAAA Tournament.
North Branch Wrestlers Bill Oehlers (hwt), Jeremy Bergerson (215), Zach Backus (189) and Joe Lofboom (152) earned All Rum River Conference awards.
March 31
CL’s David Olson and Levi Secord and NB’s Tony Beaver and Matt Warren became RRC all-conference basketball players.
NB’s Jenny Anderson, Megan Stegmier and Gabi Olson and CL’s Katie Reed and Jess Peterson earned all-conference recognition.
April 7
David Olson finished his CLHS basketball career with a school record 1498 points.
April 21
North Branch Viking hurdler Jenny Anderson signed a letter of intent with Augustana (S .D.)
April 28
The Chisago Lakes boys’ golf team shot a 140 (34,35,35,36) in defeating Milaca at home.
May 5
The undefeated CLHS baseball team (7-0) has scored 74 runs.
May 12
The CLHS baseball team moved to 11-0 for the season.
The CLHS golf team continues to amaze. This time it scored 139 (33,34,36,36) in a dual meet.
May 17
The North Branch boys’ and girls track teams both qualified for the State True Team Meet by winning the Section 7AA Meet.
May 24
The CL boys’ baseball team clinched the RRC by going 11-0 to start the season.
The Wildcat boys’ golf team won its fourth consecutive RRC crown with a 294 at the conference tournament.
The CL girls’ golf team tied defending champion Milaca for the RRC title.
The North Branch girls’ track team ran away with the RRC track crown.
The CL boys edged North Branch for the RRC track championship.
June 2
The North Branch boys’ and girls’ track teams each finished seventh at the Minnesota State True Team Track Meet.
June 9
Eight NBHS Vikings and four CLHS Wildcats qualified for the State Track and Field Meet. Jenny Anderson (100 hurdles), Aaron Cedergren, Nick Sausen, Nick Ramberg and Cody Good (4x800 relay), Al Moore (triple jump), Billy Oehlers (shot put) and Joe Lofboom (pole vault) represented North Branch. John Leaf (3200), Ben Dery (800), Devin Swanberg (triple jump) and hurdler Chris Hitchcock qualified from Chisago.
June 16
Joe Lofboom (3rd in pole vault) and Billy Oehlers (5th in shot put) earned Medals while representing North Branch at the State Track and Field Meet.
June 23
Chisago Lakes catcher Kyle Collins represented CLHS in the Minnesota All-Star Baseball Tournament. His North team finished second.
July 14
More than 500 runners took part in the 17th annual Lindstrom Loppet Karl Oscar 5k race.
July 28
The Chisago Lakes Jaguars U17 boys’ soccer team earned it’s way into the championship flight of the Schwan’s USA Cup Soccer Tournament with a 2-1 record in the preliminary round.
August 18
Football, tennis, cross-country, swimming, volleyball and soccer teams in Chisago Lakes and North Branch High Schools started practice this week.
August 25
Girls’ tennis teams fom NB and CL are the first fall sports to compete.
September 1
More than 150 runners took part in the Ki Chi Saga 5k race.
The Chisago Lakes girls’ soccer team and the North Branch boys’ crosss country teams started their seasons with wins.
September 8
The Chisago Lakes boys’ soccer team opened its season with two consecutive 7-0 wins.
September 22
The CL football team beat Benilde-St. Magaret’s 35-34 on a Christian Swanberg extra point kick.
October 6
Despite C.J. Hoffman’s record 273 yards rushing, St. Francis beat the Wildcats 43-41.
Wildcat diver Erica Greene set a six -dive list school record with 256.6 points.
October 13
The Chisago Lakes football team upset highly ranked Fridley 19-13 at the CL Homecoming Game.
October 20
Chisago Lakes beat the North Branch football team 29-16 in the annual match-up of arch rivals.
The North Branch cross country teams beat the Wildcat harriers at Ki Chi Saga Park.
October 27
The North Branch Viking girls’ cross country team became the first area school to earn a North Suburban Conference championship.
November 10
Chisago’s Zach Hunter and North Branch’s Nick Ramberg and Haley Hasleiet competed in the State Cross Country Meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
November 17
Thirteen CLHS swimmers and divers earned their way to the State Swimming and Diving Meet at the U. of Minn. Aquatic Center.
Six North Branch and Two Chisago Lakes runners earned all-conference recognition for cross country. Miranda Charley, Shayna Gray, Haley Hasleiet, J.J. Koerber, Nick Ramberg and Ali Zimmerman won the award for the Vikings. Wildcats Zach Hunter and Danielle Vitali earned awards.
November 24
The North Branch girls’ tennis teanm was named the State Academic Champion. The team carries a collective 3.95 GPA.
December 1
Wildcat diver Erica Greene earned a medal for her fourth place finish at the state meet.
Chisago senior defenseman Lexy Perenteau signed a national letter of intent to play hockey at Bemidji State University.
December 8
North Branch girls’ basketball coach Dan Schindler collected his 300th win in a 46-37 win over Forest Lake.
December 22
The Chisago Lakes ski teams started the season by overwhelming Irondale. The boys won 45-10 and the girls 52-3.
North Branch junior basketball player Gabrielle Olson led her team to a win over Duluth Central by achieving a very rare quadruple-double. She had 14 points, 12 assists, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. Oh, My!
December 29
The Wildcat boys’ swimming team opened its dual meet season with two impressive wins. The team beat Cambridge 101-80 and Spring Lake Park 103-81.
