Celebration of the Lakes coming Jan. 27-29

Celebration of the Lakes coming Jan. 27-29

We are quickly approaching one of my favorite times of the year. I’m referring to the annual Celebration of the Lakes festival. With the unseasonably warm temps this year the celebration could be forced to a land site. We will definitely keep you informed of any new location change. Either way, on ice or on land, this year’s celebration will be just as amazing as years past.

Once again this year’s celebration will be hosting a “Chili Cook-Off,” and if the numbers are anything like last year, there will be plenty of different chilies for you to taste and judge. We hope to run (if the cooks permit it) the top placing chili recipes in an edition of the County Press.

If you think you have a knack for taking pictures, be sure to enter the County Press’ annual Celebration of the Lakes photo contest. If you take a photo that you think is unique and that really captures the celebration, please submit it to us here at the Press and hopefully it will be chosen as one of the winners.

As always the great people that put on the Celebration of the Lakes could use a hand. These people work on the celebration for months and would really appreciate any help you could offer. I would encourage you to call the Chamber office at 257-1177. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We here at the Chisago County Press are putting the finishing touches on our upcoming Community Guide. The guide is a Chisago Lakes Area Chamber endorsed booklet that highlights area attractions, and has many areas of importance like area schools information, local government information and parks and recreation info. The guide is dispersed in businesses all over the Chisago Lakes area and is also inserted into the Search Shopper. Although the deadline is just around the corner, there is still time to get your business message out to the public.

Call us here at 257-5115, we would love to help no matter what your budget is. Last year’s guide was a huge success and this year’s we hope is even better.

Just when we are getting our lives back to normal, and by normal I mean the post-Governor Ventura era, along comes something even stranger. Now it seems that there is a north suburbanite (one of us ) running for governor. Great! Finally someone like us who shares the same values and principles as we do. The state could really benefit from one of us who cares about the real thing in life.

Oh, did I mention there was one tiny, almost indiscrept, little difference between this future politician and you and me? It seems that he sort of fancies himself as a vampire. No big deal, who needs to nitpick right? What is it with this state? Who or should I say what’s next, a prisoner serving a life sentence? A super-hero? Or maybe an alien? Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Governor of Minnesota....Gloux 9811.
