He was born August 12, 1943, in Watertown, Wis., to parents Edward and Esther (Jaeger) Knaack.
He is preceded in death by parents Edward and Esther Knaack.
Butch is survived by his wife of 40 years, Eleanor; son, William (Kristine); grandchildren: Trevor and Whitney Knaack; siblings: Robert (Lorraine) Knaack and Marilyn (Kenneth) Baneck; special sister-in-laws: Sharon (John) Bryse, Linda (Roger) Omdahl, Kathie Coulombe and Patti (Richard) Snell; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Butch was employed by Shafer Contracting as a supervisor and enjoyed golf, being a Green Bay Packer fan and his grandchildren.
Butch also spent time in the Air Force as a Sergeant from 1964 to 1968.
A very special thanks to John (Woody) Bear and Gary Becker, Shafer Fire & Rescue, Lakes Region EMT, ER staff at St. Croix Hospital, staff at South 7th Floor at Regions Hospital and Breana at Shafer Contracting.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Interment at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis.
