Tom Hunter, of Shafer, died suddenly May 30, 2006, at Cotton, Minn., at the age of 50.

Tom was born Jan. 17, 1956, in Bethesda Naval Hospital, in Bethesda, MD, to Robert J. and Elizabeth (Allan) Hunter. He spent his formative years in Norfolk, VA, Great Lakes, IL, El Cajon, CA, and Vernon Hills, IL.

Following graduation from Libertyville High School, Tom joined the Navy in 1974 and spent four years as a Fire Control Technician with guided missiles. He was an electronics service technician for TRW, Gerber Scientific and for the past 10 years for Oce.

Tom married Alesia Holmes Sept. 6, 1984, and lived in Elgin, IL until moving to Shafer in 1989.

Tom enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping, playing his bagpipes, tinkering with his motorcycle, dirt bikes and 1966 VW Beetle.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Elizabeth W. Hunter; father-in-law, Samuel Holmes, and brother-in-law, Samuel Holmes.

He is survived by his wife, Alesia; children: Angela, Heather and Robert. Other surviving relatives are his mother-in-law, Lorraine Holmes; sister, Chris (Hank) Maier; sisters-in-law: Cindy (Joel) Johnson, Diane Holmes, Donna (Neal) Deneen; brother-in-law, George (Brenda) Holmes, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home, in Osceola, with Fr. Joel Cycenas officiating. Private interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
