In her welcoming comments, Director Tracy Quarnstrom thanked Chisago Lakes School District for its assistance as TRIO Wolf Creek has emerged into its own charter school entity.
Graduating senior Amy Clayton volunteered to give the student address and encouraged her classmates to “be the change they would like to see in the world.”
Dean of Students Brenda Swanson and Learning Manager Stacy Bender read future plans, hobbies, dreams, and favorite quotes as each graduate received their diploma from Director Quarnstrom and School Board Chair Tom Plocher. Other board members and staff member shook hands and embraced students as they walked back to their seats. After the ceremony, family and friends lingered over deserts and refreshments.
Many students who attend TRIO Wolf Creek Distance Learning Charter School reside in Chisago County; however, as a charter school, the school has no district boundaries and can accept students from anywhere in Minnesota. With online technology, the internet, and email, students are able to access curriculum from the on-site labs located in Chisago City or in their own living rooms anywhere in the state.
