As I attended the Chisago Lake Township meeting last week, one thing kept coming to mind––where was everybody? Your local cities and townships do a wonderful job governing for you. What most people do not realize is that their presence at these town meetings does in fact make a difference. The people in our neck of the woods truly appreciate the small, personal feeling and most people would like it to remain that way. My recommendation is to get out there and take in some of our local meetings. Keep current on what is going on in your city or township. The townships and cities practice democracy and believe me––your vote does count. You’ll find that the people in charge of your township or city are in fact good, honest people who care about your quality of life.
It’s official––the Daunte Culpepper era has come and went with our beloved Vikings. Once again, an ego the size of the Milky Way has surfaced in a professional athlete. Our leader (small hands and all) has dictated that the Purple either trade him or cut him. He was due a $6 million signing bonus last week, but that just wasn’t enough (poor guy). Our ex-quarterback thought he deserved to be the highest paid QB in the league. If I’m not mistaken, Culpepper threw 12 interceptions and only six touchdown passes last year, not to mention that his knee looked like cooked spaghetti in a ziplock bag. Now this prima donna has forced the Vikings hand and forced a trade with Miami. It seems like every time I start to get interested in a pro sports team, some money-hungry athlete with the common sense of a 4-year-old has to ruin it. These people have absolutely no concept of real life whatsoever. I say goodbye Daunte, don’t let the door hit you (although your wallet is so fat you wouldn’t even feel it).
