Christian M. Nielsen, age 92, of White River Lodge, Bedford, Ind., formerly of Scandia, Minn., died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at White River Lodge, Bedford, Ind.

Christian was born Dec. 15, 1913, at Kenosha, Wis., to parents Anton Nielsen and Amalia (Olsen) Nielsen. He married Hazel S. Bohman April 20, 1942.

Christian was a dairy farmer in Scandia, Minn., retiring in 1985.

He is survived by wife, Hazel S. Nielsen, of Bedford, Ind.; daughter, Marilyn D. Anderson (Kenneth), of Bedford, Ind.; son, Richard C. Nielsen (Denise), of Elizabethton, Tenn.; four granddaughters: Katie Neilson El Heleu, of Beirut, Lebanon; Brenda Nielsen Benson, of San Diego, Calif.; Megan Nielsen Roundtree, of Greenville, SC; Joni Nielsen, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; brother, Henry Nielsen, of Sweet Home, Oregon, and sister, Edith Johnson, of Minneapolis, Minn.

He is preceded in death by brother, John Nielsen; sisters: Hazel Swanson, Doris Eckenroth and Mary Bybee.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, Ind.; an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church, Scandia, Minn.

Services were Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, Ind., with Rev. Paul Neuman officiating. Burial at Elim Lutheran Church Cemetery, Scandia.
