Christian M. Nielsen, age 92, of White River Lodge, Bedford, Ind., formerly of Scandia, Minn., died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at White River Lodge, Bedford, Indiana.

Christian was born December 15, 1913, at Kenosha, Wis., to parents Anton Nielsen and Amalia (Olsen) Nielsen. He married Hazel S. Bohman April 20, 1942.

Christian was a dairy farmer in Scandia, retiring in 1985.

He is survived by wife, Hazel S. Nielsen, of Bedford, Indiana; daughter, Marilyn D. Anderson (Kenneth), of Bedford, Indiana; son, Richard C. Nielsen (Denise), of Elizabethton, Tennessee; four granddaughters: Katie Neilson El Heleu, of Beirut, Lebanon; Brenda Nielsen Benson of San Diego, California; Megan Nielsen Roundtree of Greenville, South Carolina; Joni Nielsen, of Elizabethton, Tennessee; brother, Henry Nielsen, of Sweet Home, Oregon, and sister, Edith Johnson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He is preceded in death by brother, John Nielsen; sisters: Hazel Swanson, Doris Eckenroth and Mary Bybee.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, Indiana; a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia, Minn.

Memorial service will be Sunday, May 7, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Elim Lutheran Church, in Scandia, Minn. Family will greet friends one-half hour prior to services. Burial at Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Scandia.
