Sadly our community lost one of its cornerstones last week. Joe Eichten, of Eichten’s Cheese Farms, has been a wonderful father, a terrific businessman and above all else a great husband. I have known Joe for about 27 years, and he was one of the kindest, most compassionate people you will ever meet. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Eichten family. Joe will truly be missed.
In this edition of the Press, you will find a photo of our Search logo contest winner and his winning logo. His name is Nick Brenden. He first heard about the contest from his girlfriend’s grandmother June Waldhoff of North Branch. We hope to incorporate our new logo in the near future. If you would like to view all of the entries into our logo contest, they will be posted in our lobby. Again, thank you to all the people who partook in the contest. We really did have a tough time choosing just one. If you are a business owner and have been thinking about a new logo for your business, I would recommend having a logo contest open to the public. You will be surprised how artistic people in our area are.
Is it just me or did Northwest Airlines file for bankruptcy just a few months ago? The airlines just announced the compensation of their CEO Doug Steenland. Keep in mind this is the same company that has mechanics still on strike, pilots that were forced to take substantial pay cuts and threats of strikes in all facets of the company.
So here’s a company who appears to be on such fiscal hard times that just announced that its CEO will only make $3.72 million this year. We should all be so lucky to work for such a fiscally failing company.
