“This was the week on the schedule that I thought might be the turning point to our season,” said Wildcat coach John Hawkinson. “We had to play a quality team on the road and two days later play a good team at home. Going into the week we were 4-1 in conference play (3-0 at home and 1-1 on the road). Finishing the week 0-2 to fall 4-3 in conference play wasn't exactly what we had in mind.
“Now that doesn’t mean the end of contention for the conference title. But, it is now a win out scenario if we are to have a chance. If we can finish the regular conference season 6-3, we might be able to catch the leaders at the conference championships. In golf, as in life, you never give up. I guess anything can happen at the conference championship on May 18,” Hawkinson added.
