Jenny Anderson finishes fourth in NCC heptathlon

Competing in her first-ever heptathlon, Augustana's Jenny Anderson established personal bests in five of the seven events to finish in fourth place at the North Central Conference Multi-Events Tuesday, May 2 in Yankton, S.D.

Anderson, a freshman from North Branch, Minn., scored 4,128 points to earn 5 team points for the Viking women in the NCC Championships.

Anderson established personal best marks in the 100-meter hurdles (15.54), shot put (34-02.25), 200-meter dash (27.56), javelin (94-01.0) and 800 meters (2:33.26) en route to her fourth-place finish. She also competed in the other heptathlon events (high jump and long jump).

Anderson and the rest of the Vikings will take part in the rest of the North Central Conference Championships on May 12-13 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Anderson, a 2005 graduate of North Branch High School, is the daughter of Joe and Mary Anderson of North Branch.
