Peggy was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, August 12, 1926. She was the third of F.W. and Hilda Sherman’s four children. Her father was an Episcopalian minister, so she spent much of her childhood as a “missionary kid” on Indian reservations in the Midwest.
Peggy and Chester Ekdahl were married April 19, 1947, in Minnesota. They spent much of their 41 years of marriage in Chisago City, Minnesota. In 1984 they moved to The Woodlands, Texas, where Chester died in 1988. After 18 years and five days without him, Peggy went to be with Chester September 26, 2006.
Peggy is survived by her sisters: Marion LeGrande, of Souix City, Iowa, and Betty Lindblom, of North Branch, Minnesota; and her brother Frank Sherman; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Ret Ekdahl, of The Woodlands, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Kirk Kupka, of Lindstrom, Minnesota; her son, Pat Cartier, of Mora Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Peggy also leaves behind numerous foster children who still call her mom.
