The Wildcat swimming and diving team swam against a very good Mahtomedi Zephyr squad Tuesday, October 3. The result was a 127-69 Zephyr win at the Chisago Lakes pool.

The highlight for the Wildcats was the performance of sophomore diver Ana Peltier, who scored a personal best of 225.75. Her previous best was 197.75, only five days earlier. “She did fantastic! She hit all six dives,” said diving coach Lisa Willhite. “As a coach, the great part is that I can see where she can improve even more. We have a very young team and our younger divers are really improving, too.”

Besides the Peltier first in diving, Wildcats Lauren Koch and Emily Stein were able to earn wins for Chisago Lakes. Stein won the 100 freestyle in 59:02 to go along with her second place in the 50 freestyle (26.96). Koch won the 200 IM in 2:32.21 and was second in the 500 freestyle 5:56.24.

Other seconds went to Angie Dery in the 100 backstroke (1:12.94), Alex Thomsen in diving (156.25) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Kathy Julik-Heine, Heidi Willhite, Laura Greene and Koch (1:55.75).

Third place finishes came from the Wildcats’ 200 medley relay team (Dery, Stein, Andrea Olson and Willhite) in 2:17.40 and Stein, Greene, Olson and Koch in the 400 freestyle relay (4:11.74).

“Mahtomedi is a very fast team. I’m just glad they’re not in our section or conference,” said CL head coach Ed Wakefield

The girls swim against Benilde-St. Margaret’s at 6 p.m. tonight (October 12) at the CL pool.
