Groundbreaking ceremonies were held at Parmly Senior Housing & Services Thursday, October 5 for their new building project to be located between Vindauga View Apartments and Parmly Lakeview Apartments. According to Mary Cordts, Executive Director, “We are thrilled to mark the next phase of services to be offered on the Parmly Campus. This addition addresses the changing desires of those we will serve in the future. Since life expectancy has been extended by 30 years and with the explosion of baby boomers on the horizon, our challenge is to ensure quality of life during those years.”

The aging services include:

•A state-of-the-art Wellness Center for the Therapy Department and Wellness programs, featuring a lap pool and warm water therapy pool.

•A 12-unit Transitional Care Center at the Margaret S. Parmly Residence designed for those who require only a short-term recovery to enable them to return to their own home.

•Creating additional private rooms within the Margaret S. Parmly Residence for a total of 43.

•A 16-unit Advanced Memory Care Assisted Living facility mirroring the Margaret’s House philosophy of walking with residents and families through the memory loss journey in a home-like setting.

•Additional gathering spaces at Point Pleasant Heights with the expansion of the lobby as well as on-going renovations of the apartments and townhomes.

The community focus groups told Parmly that they wanted them to be the resource for active aging. Through these new initiatives on the Parmly Senior Campus, seniors in our community will be able to choose from many options to be engaged in life.
