“We had some good swims and we actually stayed with a very fast team pretty well,” said Wildcat head coach Ed Wakefield. “Ana (Peltier) had a great night diving, again, and Leah Secord and Kathy Julik-Heine had real good nights.”
Peltier (216.80) led a Wildcat sweep in diving. Alex Thomsen was second (156.8) and Lindsay Carlson took third with a 131.0. Emily Stein’s 27.25 in the 50 freestyle earned the Wildcat’s other first.
The 200 medley relay team (Angie Dery, Stein, Lauren Koch, Secord) swam its distance in 2:10.18 to take second. Stein, Andrea Olson, Secord and Koch teamed in the 400 freestyle relay and earned second with a time of 4:06.92.
Secord (200 freestyle in 2:11.71), Koch (200 IM in 2:33.15 and 200 freestyle in 5:58.94) and Stein (100 freestyle in 58.62) earned second place points. Other seconds went to Angie Dery in the 100 backstroke (1:12.47) and Maddie Coulter in the 100 breast stroke (1:25.07).
Olson took third place in the 200 freestyle (2:15.22) and the 500 freestyle (6:04.31). Mallory Schneider (100 butterfly in 1:24.55), Kathy Julik-Heine (100 backstroke in 1:15.67) and Mariah Esmay (100 breast stroke in 1:28.56) also gained third place finishes. The 200 freestyle relay team (Stein, Leah Hathaway, Laura Greene, Olson) was clocked in 1:59.53 to earn third place.
The varsity swimmers complete their conference season at Columbia Heights tonight (10/26) and at Fridley on Tuesday, October 31.
