The Wildcat swimmers lost to Irondale September 14 at Chisago Lakes. The final score was Irondale 106, CL 78.

“Irondale is probably one of the top two teams in the conference. So, losing to them was no surprise or disgrace,” said Wildcat head coach Ed Wakefield. “We actually swam and dove with them pretty well. Most of the races were pretty close...no big blowouts.”

Emily Stein and Lauren Koch swam to individual firsts for the ‘Cats. Stein’s 58:42 in the 100 freestyle and Koch’s 5:50.85 in the 500 freestyle gave them wins. The team’s other first came in the 400 freestyle relay. Andrea Olson, Leah Secord, Koch and Stein won the event in 4:02.84.

Ana Peltier was second in diving. Other individual second’s for the Wildcats came from Secord in the 200 freestyle, Koch in the 200 IM and Stein in the 50 freestyle. Angie Dery teamed with Stein, Koch and Secord to take second in the 200 medley relay.

Chisago Lakes placed third in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke, 100 breast stroke and the 200 freestyle relay.

“They just barely edged us out in diving, which does not happen much. But, they have three senior divers and ours are all very young. Overall, we had a pretty respectable meet against a very good team,” Wakefield added.
