The camp will teach kids about a variety of safety topics in a hands-on atmosphere.
Safety Pup visited third and fourth grade classrooms at Taylors Falls Elementary last Tuesday to tell the kids all about this new camp. Chisago Lakes Community Education and Chisago County Public Health have been meeting since November with Chisago County Sheriff, Fairview Lakes Health Services Lakes Police, Lakes Region EMS, Lindstrom Volunteer Fire and St. Croix Regional Medical Center to plan this awesome opportunity for local kids.
The camp will be held Aug. 1-2 from 8:30-4:30 p.m. at Chisago Lakes High School. The cost has been kept very low at $25 per child, thanks to donations from many agencies, business' and organizations.
The price includes all activities, food, a bike helmet and t-shirt. Topics will include Fire, Equine, Electrical, Bicycle, First Aid, Water and Kitchen Safety and more.
To register for this new camp, contact Chisago Lakes Community Education at 213-2600 or register online at www.clceonline.com. Space is limited to the first 150 children.
If your organization or business would like to be a part of this exciting community effort, the camp is still in need of donations for lunch, fruit, cookies, hats, video taping services, ice cream and sponsorships for speakers and entertainment for graduation. If you'd like to help contact Deb Campobasso at 213-2606 or Jen Hallberg at 213-5667.
